In a broad sense a jaeger stage meant a form of jaeger movement’s activity, a network for helping jaeger volunteers and on-duty jaegers move between different parts of Finland and the Lockstedter Lager training facility in Germany. The routes of the jaeger movement’s stages ran through Lapland and northern reaches of Ostrobothnia to Sweden. The Kemi stage was established in October of 1915 and shut down after a denunciation in January 1 in 1916.
Preserved stage houses feature on their walls commemorative plaques that recount the events. The memorial of the Kemi stage of 1915 – 17 is situated in the small park adjacent to the railway station. The commemorative plaque of the stage office is on the wall of former Halonen house. The story of the Traveller Home Osula is in turn told on a plaque on the wall of an appartment building in the intersection of Valtakatu and Meripuistokatu.
