Relax with a Fishing Trip

Veitsiluoto Fishing Area is located in Rytikari, just a short 15‑minute drive from Kemi city centre. This scenic spot invites you to pause for a moment, enjoy the forest trails and try your luck in the fish‑rich waters.

The area includes a 25‑metre accessible fishing pier, a toilet, a renovated bridge and a lean‑to shelter right next to the parking area.

The waters naturally contain whitefish, grayling and vendace, and are regularly stocked with trout and rainbow trout.

Bird enthusiasts will also appreciate the excellent opportunities to observe both common and rare species. During spring and autumn migration, the nearby birdwatching tower offers great views — and beautiful scenery can be enjoyed year‑round.

The fishing area consists of a 65‑hectare freshwater basin, circled by a five‑kilometre nature trail called Tankokari Trail.

Along the route you will find:

  • six designated campfire spots
  • four renovated lean‑tos
  • eco‑toilets
  • great shoreline fishing opportunities
  • four lean‑to shelters
  • barrier‑free fishing pier
  • boat dock with six berths
  • rental kota for up to 40 people (booked via Veitsiluodon Kalamiehet)
  • firewood available at campfire sites

The trail has been widened and the wetlands improved, making it easy to walk, run, cycle, and in winter even explore on snowshoes.

A fishing permit costs €20 / 12 hours. The permit allows fishing with two rods and includes a catch quota of two rainbow trout.

Fishing permits can be purchased online at www.kalakortti.com.
