Nostalgic and Cozy Hotel Merihovi
The construction of Hotel Merihovi began after the wars in 1946, and the completed Merihovi was opened to the public on April 27, 1949. Despite the material shortages caused by the war, the result was magnificent. The glowing ceiling lamps designed by Paavo Tynell and the classic white columns in the hall exude a festive atmosphere…
President Urho Kekkonen stayed at Merihovi for the first time in 1959 and subsequently visited frequently each year after returning from his fishing trips in Lapland. Astronaut Yuri Gagarin attracted crowds to the hotel, and the first TV broadcasts in the city were sent from Merihovi.
Fifty years later, in 1999, Merihovi underwent a thorough and laborious renovation, during which almost everything was renewed. The renovation respected the old as much as possible while considering modern requirements.
The atmospheric Hotel Merihovi consists of 69 unique and cozy rooms. Hotel guests can refresh themselves in the Jukola sauna, and the hotel’s private saunas, Uitto and Lokki, can be booked on request. Merihovi has four meeting rooms for 5-40 people and 12 group work rooms, enabling meetings to be held at Hotel Merihovi.
Hotel Merihovi’s high-quality À la Carte Restaurant offers breakfasts and delicious gourmet dinners prepared from local ingredients with international recipes. At Café-Bar Ankkuri, you can enjoy a buffet lunch on weekdays and small or larger bites from Ankkuri’s menu at other times.
Warmly welcome to the atmospheric Merihovi!
