Discover the historical sites of Kemi’s coastal area with the help of information boards. These boards are designed to offer an opportunity for self-guided historical exploration and to deepen knowledge of Kemi’s vibrant past. They bring local history to life in its original locations amidst beautiful sea views.
The route runs from Ruutinranta through Kemi’s Meripuisto to Möllärinranta, covering topics such as industrial history, culture, and land uplift. The route features a total of 11 information boards, with texts in both Finnish and English. Each board also includes a QR code that provides more detailed information about the city’s history.
The route allows visitors to experience how the city’s shores and harbor areas have changed over time and their significance to Kemi’s development. The route is suitable for all ages and is available year-round.
In the future, similar information boards are planned to be produced for other historical sites in the city.
